Skill Level: Students should have some prior binding experience.

Class Description: The deceptively simple Triangle Book can function equally well in a variety of ways: when held in the hand and read page by page in sequence as a traditional codex, on exhibit as a sculptural object, and as something delightful to play with.

From an engineering standpoint, this collection of separate triangles hinged together is a close cousin of the maze book cut and folded from a single sheet of paper. It can be made in a home studio with minimal specialized equipment. The structure is not limited to a triangular shape. Squares, hexagons or possibly other shapes could work: any shape that will neatly nest together as in a quilt pattern.

Instruction will focus on both craft and content. Students will have the opportunity to examine a variety of finished pieces and models. Importance of creating and refining prototypes will be stressed. Your finished book, plus detailed instructions, will be a valuable reference for future work.

Class Fees: Members only Early Enrollment Plan: $96, Member: $120, Nonmember: $195

Material Fee: None. Registrant provides their own tools & supplies

EEP Deadline: March 23, 2023

Registration Deadline: March 28, 2023
