Laurel Moorhead
Artist statement: “ I mainly work in watercolor, paper cutting rubber stamps and some collage, gel prints and so on. My books tend to be very personal and are often about me. I do not sell my work but I do occasionally give a piece to friends or family. My studio was built from a kit and has electricity but no plumbing and have a cement floor. It is in my backyard and I moved into it in February, 2016. I have hosted a few small SDBA workshops in the space which I welcome because then I am forced to clean it up!”
Jane LaFazio
Jane LaFazio is a prolific artist working on both paper and cloth and sometimes combining the two. She creates her own watercolor sketchbook to fill with illustrations of her daily life. She creates art quilts by designing them in her studio and hand-stitching in the evenings. Jane has been a full-time artist since 1998, and in that time, she has cultivated a wide range of skills as a painter, mixed media, quilt artist, and art teacher. She’s known for her fun-loving, creative teaching style, and providing a relaxed supportive environment in the classroom. She teaches her own drawing and watercolor workshops online and has led many art retreats internationally. Her artwork has been featured in Cloth, Paper, Scissors and Quilting Arts magazines many times, and in Danny Gregory’s An Illustrated Life, and in numerous books. Josie Rodriguez
Josie Rodriguez is a practicing artist who has taught the ancient medium of encaustic painting from her home studio in Mission Hills. Encaustic comes from the Greek, enkaustikus, meaning to heat or burn. Heat is used at every stage of the fascinating process. As a visual artist Josie is inspired by the many designs in nature and believes that bees are collaborators in her process-truly science and art at work. She works two dimensionally but is known for her one of a kind wax vessels, assemblage and artist books. Josie has shown her work throughout the United States in both solo shows and juried group exhibitions. She has studied Encaustic in San Francisco, CA, Cortona, Italy and Malaga, Spain and holds a B.A. degree from San Diego State University, and M.A. from the University of San Diego.
Charlotte Carpenter
Charlotte Carpentier is a Certified Zentangle Teacher in Temecula, California. She loves to do lots of things…quilt, knit, and make books and art. She knows that feeding the creative side of your brain is important to staying sane, but we all suffer from self-doubt and overwhelm at times, and that keeps us from being everything we have the potential to be.
